As part of the special initiative of the Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) “Tackling the root causes of displacement - reintegrating refugees”, a new project entitled 'Support for host communities and Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh' will start in July 2019. The project aims to contribute to peaceful co-existence and conflict resolution between host communities and displaced Rohingya. This will be realized by strengthening the economic situation of the local population who are severely affected by the influx of refugees, by improving the psychosocial care for refugees and by strengthening the conflict resolution skills of both groups. To achieve its goal, the project will cooperate with various governmental and non-governmental partners, as well as with local authorities at the center of the Rohingya refugee crisis in Bangladesh.

Ihre Aufgaben

  • Organizational and technical steering of a complex project
  • Programme development, strategic planning, control, quality assurance and monitoring of project activities in the field of livelihood strengthening for host communities, psychosocial support for displaced persons and prevention and mitigation of conflicts between host and refugee communities
  • Providing technical, organizational and process advice for the partner ministry (Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief, Government of Bangladesh) and implementing partners on district level
  • Representing the project, specifically vis-à-vis Government partners, development partners, United Nations and other implementing organizations as well as the German Embassy
  • Management of communication and reporting towards BMZ
  • Close coordination with GIZ Country Office, Embassy, other technically relevant German Development projects (e.g. Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau, KfW) and other cooperation partners
  • Planning, management and monitoring of finances; selection and management of national and international consultants and their professional support
  • Leadership and support of an international team

Ihr Profil

  • Degree in Humanitarian Affairs, Peace and Conflict Studies, Refugee & Human Rights issues, (Rural / Least Developed Countries (LDC) / Economic) Development, International Relations, or other relevant fields
  • Many years of professional experience in the development sector, including project management experience in crisis and/or conflict settings
  • Sound understanding of humanitarian and refugee relief operations, including the interface of Relief and Development (Linking Relief, Rehabilitation and Development (LRRD) / Nexus)
  • Knowledge and experience in the design and implementation of income-generating / livelihood strengthening measures for host communities and/or psychosocial support measures for displaced persons
  • High advisory competence towards ministries and multi-stakeholder processes; very good knowledge of the management models and instruments of German and international development cooperation
  • Experience in leading and managing international teams
  • Excellent conceptual, analytical and communication skills; ability to work in a team, social and intercultural competence/sensitivity, organizational skills and flexibility
  • Fluent in German and English

Basic medical care is provided in Cox´s Bazar, in Dhaka by several well-equipped hospitals. In case of serious illnesses, treatment in nearby Bangkok, Singapore or Germany is recommended. The climate is tropical hot and humid with a pronounced rainy season. Life in Dhaka and Cox's Bazar can be stressful due to the overcrowding and heavy traffic. The security situation is tense. There are special security risk mitigation measures applying to GIZ staff onsite. All staff must follow GIZ security instructions at any time. Please also read up on county-specific advice provided by the German Federal Foreign Office. At the site of operation the particulate pollution occurs to be many times higher than the European acceptable limit.   • Erfahrung im Projektmanagement;
  • Kenntnisse in den Bereichen der Kälte- und Klimatechnik, Gebäudetechnik oder Energieeffizienz;
  • Kenntnisse der internationalen Klimaschutzpolitik sind von Vorteil;
  • Erfahrung in der internationalen Zusammenarbeit oder sonstige Auslandserfahrung, idealerweise in Entwicklungsländern;

Project Team Leader / Manager (F/M) 100% based in Tirana, Albania


Health promotion and non-communicable disease prevention in schools is a project of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC). It is a four-year project with an inception period from January 2020 to December 2020 and a Main Phase from January 2021 to December 2024 (subject to approval by SDC upon submission of project document). The Project Team Leader / Manager’s starting date can be negotiated, as well as the initial extent of employment during the inception period (full-time then from the Main Phase onwards).

The overall goal of the program will be: The population in Albania reduces its exposure to the major risk factors for None-Communicable Diseases (NCDs). This goal will be achieved through three separated but interlinked outcomes: 1. School children have the necessary skills and knowledge to prevent behavioural risk factors for NCDs. 2. Teachers and school directors promote healthy behaviour and are engaged in setting an enabling framework in class and in school as an institution. 3. Central and local governments are promoting health in an inter-sectoral approach based on evidence, new standards and guidelines.

The project is implemented by Helvetas in partnership with the Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute (Swiss TPH) and an Albanian partner. Employment is subject to award of the tender to Helvetas and its partners.


MAIN TASKS

Your main responsibility is to lead the overall management of the project through high quality project implementation, including administrative and financial supervision as well as the coordination with all partners and relevant stakeholders.

You will provide high quality strategic project management, steer it and give technical input. To avoid parallel implementing structures, you coordinate and particularly facilitate the relevant central institutions and municipalities. The project management shall be gradually transferred to the government or Albanian actors. Additionally, you foster close and continuous cooperation with the Embassy of Switzerland in Albania, the Health for All Project and other relevant SDC projects on other domains in Albania and health programs in the region (Kosovo, BiH). Synergies and complementarities with other donors’ programs should be ensured including close cooperation with the WHO and coordinated implementation activities, management of staff, consultants, and eventual subcontractors.

It is expected that your work will contribute to wider learning and exchange within the organisations as well as the international development community for which knowledge sharing through communication and sharing is crucial. Besides, your administrative and financial supervision will make sure that the project complies with the organisational requirements and procedures.


YOUR QUALIFICATIONS

  • University degree: Masters or PhD in health economics, educational science, development studies or similar social sciences. An MBA is an additional advantage.
  • At least ten years of experience in development cooperation, particularly in the health sector.
  • Proven track record in project management, strong leadership skills including the ability to capitalise on results achieved and document them adequately.
  • Experience at strengthening country systems and working with multi sector stakeholders to address health promotion and non-communicable disease (NCD’s) prevention.
  • Good understanding of emerging health challenges in the Balkan regions.
  • A strong ability to learn quickly, think analytically, strategically and come up with innovative solutions.
  • Track record in project cycle management and team leadership and empowering others.
  • Experience in training/presentation, coaching/consulting and research/analysis.
  • Demonstrated experience in communication, negotiation and liaising with authorities at national and local level.
  • Professional experience in South East Europe preferentially in Western Balkan countries and Albania.
  • Fluency in English, knowledge of the Albanian language is an advantage
  • Excellent skills in reporting/writing, communication and intercultural competencies

Area Manager (m/f)

The position is to be filled as soon as possible, with an initial contract duration until July 31, 2021. Employment location will be Farafangana, Madagaskar (MG).
 

As Area Manager you will ensure that the programmes and projects in your district are implemented on the basis of specified directives in terms of content, schedule and budget. The projects are to be carried out in accordance with the general Welthungerhilfe-standards, the strategy of the country programme and the regulations of the donors. You will ensure a sound financial management of the allocated WHH funds for the programme in your area and carry the overall responsibility for the Welthungerhilfe staff working on site.

 
Your responsibilities

  • Ensure that all projects in the area are implemented according to the country programme and the rules and standards of donors and Welthungerhilfe
  • Identify co-financing opportunities and develop successful project proposals in line with the relevant donor regulations and strategies (in collaboration with Head of Programmes and Head of Finance in Country Office)
  • Report to the Country Director on the progress of the programme and all risks associated with the project work in the area
  • Elaborate and ensure a preparedness plan for disasters and potential crises on the basis of area specific situation
  • Manage staff according to WHH leadership principles, staff policies and WHH strategy
  • Responsibility for the establishment and adherence to the country wide security management system (establishment of functioning security plans etc.) in accordance to the global security policy / guidelines of Welthungerhilfe
  • Establish good working relationships with donors and other stakeholders in-country /regionally for emergency, rehabilitation and development programs in coordination with the Country Office
  • Represent WHH vis-à-vis all relevant national and international stakeholders and partners in the area


Your profile

  • A university or ploytechnic degree in a relevant field
  • A minimum of 5 years professional experience working in the global South
  • Experience in working in cooperation with national partner organizations
  • Broad intercultural competence
  • Ability to cope with the pyschological and health challenges of working/living in Farafangana
  • Ability to cooperate and work in a team
  • Good command of spoken and written English and French, ability to communicate in German would be an advantage

We are looking for a Project Manager to lead our dedicated team in Davao. Starting 1st of August 2019.


Who we are
forumZFD supports people involved in violent conflicts on the path to peace and strives to help overcome war and violence. forumZFD is currently working with peace consultants in Germany as well as ten other countries in Europe, the Middle East and South East Asia. Its Academy for Conflict Transformation offers a learning space for professional, international peace work. Through dialogue events, educational work and campaigns, forumZFD actively advocates civil peace policy. forumZFD is recognised by the German federal government as a member of the Civil Peace Service (CPS) consortium. It finances its work through public and private grants, donations and membership fees.

Our offer
We offer an attractive position with responsibilities for a minimum of two to three years (with the option of extension) in a growing organization. We also offer participation in qualification and professional development courses (among others, at forumZFD’s Academy for Conflict Transformation), a project-based preparation, regular coaching and, where appropriate, participation in a language course. Your tasks and responsibilities
As Project Manager you will be responsible for the content, financial, administrative, and personnel management of the project activities implemented by the Davao office. In cooperation with colleagues of the further programme offices in Cotabato and Butuan, the programme team, and with local partners, you and your team will efficiently contribute to the civil conflict transformation and peacebuilding in Mindanao. Your work will concentrate on three levels of engagement with key actors and constituencies in the Philippines: engagement with Mindanao-wide and national issues, particularly policies concerning the broader peace and conflict situation in Mindanao; working with the higher education sector on integrating various peace education and education for peace approaches in curricula; and grassroots communities in the Davao administrative region on strengthening capacities for conflict transformation on a local level and on strengthening marginalized groups in the context of resource conflicts.


Core Tasks

  • Provide leadership to a project team comprised of local and international staff;
  • work together with Higher Education Institutions in Mindanao, and subsequent partner-teachers, for an integrated approach to advance peace education in curricula, i.e. integrating Conflict-Sensitive Journalism, introducing peace issues in political science and promoting Mindanao history;
  • develop and organise activities (e.g. workshops, trainings, dialogue programmes, and public fora) and projects with diverse local partners.
  • Expand and maintain contacts and professional networks consisting of civil society organisations and governmental institutions;
  • implement internal planning, monitoring, evaluation and reporting systems (PM&E) and knowledge management in collaboration with the PM&E coordinator and the country director;
  • contribute to fundraising and public relations activities of forumZFD;
  • represent the organisation to key actors (Philippine government institutions, civil society and other non-state actors, and other international organisations);
  • participate in the organisational development processes of forumZFD in the Philippines and across programmes (e.g. participating in thematic working groups, etc.).


Your profile:

  • Completed university degree, e.g. Social Sciences, Political Science, Peace and Conflict Studies, Peace Education, Social Work;
  • qualification as specialist in methods of nonviolent/civil conflict transformation (or similar knowledge);
  • know-how in human resource management and staff supervision, financial controlling and reporting system;
  • extensive experience in peace education/education for peace, including knowledge on the development of teaching materials, training of teachers, and integrating peace subjects in relevant curricula. Additional experience in one or more of the following thematic fields is an asset: training, networking, civil-society-oriented accompaniment of peace processes,
  • resource conflicts, gender, mediation, working with media, designing dialogue procedures, transitional justice;
  • affinity with the accompaniment of complex (dialogue) processes including creative and sensitive trial and implementation of new approaches;
  • experience in impact-oriented project planning, monitoring and evaluation
  • strong interpersonal skills, flexibility, ability to work in teams and intercultural sensitivity for working and living in complex communities;
  • ability to cope with ambiguity and the psychological strains of living in a conflict-affected area;
  • several years of international experience in development cooperation and peace building abroad (desirably in the Philippines or in another country in Southeast Asia);
  • willingness to travel frequently and adjust to flexible working hours (weekends, workload peaks);
  • fluency in English (project language) both spoken and written, willingness to learn a new language;
  • sound knowledge of common computer applications and social media, knowledge of Open Office applications desirable.


Willingness to travel partly through areas in which safety rules have to be observed due to security risks, is expected.


Start of assignment
Ideally, you are available to start working on 1st of August 2019 (preparation courses, followed by at least two to three years’ work within the project with the option of extension).

We are looking for a Project Manager to lead our dedicated team in Butuan. Starting 1st of August 2019.

Who we are
forumZFD supports people involved in violent conflicts on the path to peace and strives to help overcome war and violence. forumZFD is currently working with peace consultants in Germany as well as ten other countries in Europe, the Middle East and South East Asia. Its Academy for Conflict Transformation offers a learning space for professional, international peace work. Through dialogue events, educational work and campaigns, forumZFD actively advocates civil peace policy. forumZFD is recognised by the German federal government as a member of the Civil Peace Service (CPS) consortium. It finances its work through public and private grants, donations and membership fees.

Our offer
We offer an attractive position with responsibilities for a minimum of two to three years (with the option of extension) in a growing organization. We also offer participation in qualification and professional development courses (among others, at forumZFD’s Academy for Conflict Transformation), a project-based preparation, regular coaching and, where appropriate, participation in a language course. As the position is based on the German Development Aid Workers Act (EhfG), it is restricted to citizens of the EU and Switzerland. The position is remunerated according to the provisions of this law, including comprehensive social security benefits and financial reintegration assistance upon return.
Working for forumZFD, you will be engaged within the innovative field of conflict transformation and peacebuilding through contributing your ideas and skills.

Your tasks and responsibilities
As Project Manager you will be responsible for the content-related, financial, administrative, and personnel management of the Butuan office in the Caraga Region of Northeast Mindanao. The Caraga Region is characterised by a complex conflict situation, involving armed conflict between the the New People’s Army (NPA) and the Armed Forces of the Philippines, the presence of large-scale resource extraction activities (mining, logging, plantations), and indigenous peoples’ rights concerns. In cooperation with colleagues of the further programme offices – Cotabato and Davao – and in cooperation with local partners, you and your team will efficiently contribute to the civil conflict transformation and peacebuilding in the Caraga Region. The focus of your work is the strengthening of local capacities for conflict transformation dealing with conflicts connected to natural resource management, strengthening of marginalized groups, in particular indigenous peoples, in the context of asymmetric resource conflicts, and to strengthen a peace constituency in Caraga. Maintaining and extending the contact to local partner organizations and the partner network will be a core element of your work. Beside this, you will be responsible for the implementation of existing, and the designing of new project activities. The continuous planning and monitoring of your project will be a further central task.


Your Tasks

  • Provide overall management and leadership to the project in Butuan in a team with two local project officers and one financial administrator;
  • design and organise of activities (e.g. workshops, trainings and training series, consultations, conferences/open forums/round tables, preparation of teaching materials), together with local partners;
  • consult and support local partners in the development and implementation of a regional peace strategy for the transformation of resource conflicts;
  • work with local, national, and international partners on expanding a peace constituency in Caraga and the Philippines to address recource conflicts and advocate for the continuation of the peace process between the NPA and Government of the Philippines, the longest-running communist insurgency in the world;
  • Observe and analyse current regional and local conflict dynamics;
  • implement internal planning, monitoring, and evaluation (PM&E) systems;
  • reflect on and document experiences and “lessons learned” out of activities and projects, for internal documentation and evaluation;
  • contribute to the fundraising and public relations activities of forumZFD.


Your profile:

  • Completed university degree, e.g. Social Anthropology, Social Sciences, Political Sciences, Peace and Conflict Studies, Social Work;
  • qualification as specialist in methods of nonviolent/civil conflict transformation (or similar knowledge);
  • know-how in human resource management and staff supervision, financial controlling and reporting system;
  • extensive experience in working with indigenous communities and/or natural resource-based conflicts. Additional experience in one or more of the following thematic fields is an asset: training, networking, civil-society-oriented accompaniment of peace processes, gender, mediation, working with media, designing dialogue procedures, transitional justice;
  • affinity with the accompaniment of complex (dialogue) processes including creative and sensitive trial and implementation of new approaches;
  • experience in impact-oriented project planning, monitoring and evaluation
  • strong interpersonal skills, flexibility, ability to work in teams and intercultural sensitivity for working and living in complex communities;
  • ability to cope with ambiguity and the psychological strains of living in a conflict-affected area and isolation;
  • several years of international experience in development cooperation and peace building abroad (desirably in the Philippines or in another country in Southeast Asia);
  • willingness to travel frequently and adjust to flexible working hours (weekends, workload peaks);
  • fluency in English (project language) both spoken and written, willingness to learn a new language;
  • sound knowledge of common computer applications and social media, knowledge of Open Office applications desirable.


Willingness to travel partly through areas in which safety rules have to be observed due to security risks, is expected.


Start of assignment
Ideally, you are available to start working on 1st of August 2019 (preparation courses, followed by at least two to three years’ work within the project with the option of extension).

Ihre Aufgabe

Als Mitglied des Programmclusters sind Sie verantwortlich für die finanzielle Abwicklung und Kontrolle von ko-finanzierten und drittmittelgeförderten Projekten in den verschiedenen Phasen des Projektzyklus. Hierbei arbeiten Sie eng mit Kolleg*innen bei Oxfam Deutschland, lokalen Partnern und den Oxfam-Länderbüros zusammen.

Die Aufgabe umfasst im Einzelnen:

  • Überprüfung bzw. Erstellung von Budgets für Förderanträge an Drittmittelgeber (BMZ-Private Träger und BMZ-Übergangshilfe) gemäß den Richtlinien der jeweiligen Geber
  • Finanztechnische Überprüfung von Projektanträgen, Zwischen- und Endberichten der Partnerstrukturen in den Projektländern
  • Erstellung von Zwischen- und Verwendungsnachweisen für die Verwendung öffentlicher Drittmittel
  • Sicherstellung und Kontrolle der Einhaltung von Geberrichtlinien
  • Schulung und Beratung von Projektmitarbeiter*innen der Partnerorganisationen sowie der Länderbüros zur finanziellen Abwicklung und Berichterstattung gemäß Geberrichtlinien
  • Pflege einer softwaregestützten Datenbank
  • Überprüfung von Quartals- und Jahresberichten zur Projektarbeit in enger Zusammenarbeit mit der Finanzabteilung
  • Vorbereitung und Begleitung von internen und externen Audits

Ihr Profil

  • Abgeschlossenes betriebswirtschaftlich orientiertes Studium oder vergleichbare kaufmännische Ausbildung. Ergänzt werden diese theoretischen Grundlagen um eine mehrjährige Berufserfahrung in der Projektabrechnung und/oder Projektabwicklung in der Entwicklungszusammenarbeit und/oder Nothilfe

On behalf of KfW NIRAS IP Consult currently implements the “Vocational Education and Agricultural Training Programme Phase IV” in Ethiopia. The objective of the project is to improve vocational and agricultural training in vocational schools and engineering higher education institutions. The project started October 2017 and the current phase will run until September 2021. For our team in Ethiopia we search for a junior for the following tasks:


MAJOR TASKS OF THE EXPERT

  • Assistance to the team leader in all project management related tasks;
  • Assistance to the team leader in the coordination of short- and long-term experts;
  • Assistance to the team leader in implementing gender-related activities;
  • Assistance to the project in the field of communication;
  • Compilation of reports on the project’s activities;
  • Coordination of TVET training activities.


PERSONNEL REQUIREMENTS

  • You have a university degree in education, economics or in a related field (e.g. social science).
  • Within 3 years of working experience you have already acquired knowledge in project planning, management and strategy development.

The German Red Cross (GRC) is part of a worldwide community assisting victims of conflicts and disasters and people affected by social or health related crises. The Red Cross / Red Crescent Movement provides vulnerable people with assistance without discrimination as to nationality, race, religious beliefs, class or political opinions and adheres to the seven Fundamental Principles of the Movement: Humanity, Impartiality, Neutrality, Independence, Voluntary Service, Unity and Universality. The German Red Cross assists in disaster response, rehabilitation and capacity building projects on appeals of their sister organisations within the Movement.

GRC is currently seeking an experienced Project Manager to implement the project “Support to refugees and host communities in Cox´s Bazar, Bangladesh” funded by the SKala Initiative. The project provides humanitarian assistance and disaster risk reduction to refugees and their host communities. Activities include providing materials for safe shelter construction, access to sanitation and clean water, as well as delivering trainings in hygiene practices and safe shelter construction. The activities aim to improve the living conditions in Cox´s Bazar and are implemented together with the Bangladesh Red Crescent (BDRCS).

Duration: starting as soon as possible for an initial period of 12 months with possible extension until the end of the project (August 31st 2021)

Location: GRC Field Office Cox´s Bazar, Bangladesh


Responsibilities and Tasks:

  • Ensure the implementation of the GRC SKala project in accordance with approved plans and budgets, including assessments, activity delivery, monitoring, financial controlling and reporting.
  • Produce adequate monitoring and project progress reports according to GRC and donor requirements and provide ad hoc reports upon request of your line manager.
  • Supervise, guide and support the local project team and facilitate knowledge sharing within the GRC office and BDRCS.
  • Facilitate the coordination with all relevant project partners/stakeholders (BDRCS, IFRC, other RCRC partners, ISCG/Cluster system, local authorities).
  • Upon request, support the GRC Programme Coordinator in Cox’s Bazar in the preparation of project proposals, and other activities of the GRC Field Office in Cox’s Bazar (media/press activities; reporting).

Required Skills:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in the management of relief and/or recovery programs and development cooperation projects;
  • Working experience abroad;
  • University degree in a relevant field;
  • Working experience with the Red Cross / Crescent Movement;
  • Strong project management skills, particularly PCM and participatory methods and profound knowledge and proven experience in M&E, incl. reporting;
  • Technical skills in the following sectors: WASH, Shelter, Livelihood, DRR;
  • Sound financial management, controlling and monitoring skills;
  • Knowledge of Red Cross / Red Crescent principles with willingness to adhere to them;
  • Oral and written fluency in German and English language;
  • Readiness to work in remote areas and to go on assignment without partner;

Als Mitarbeiter/in unserem Team Projektfinanzen/-administration, bestehend aus 12 Mitarbeitern/innen, sind Sie verantwortlich für die finanzadministrative Abwicklung der Projekte eines Landes oder mehrerer Länder einer Regionalgruppe (Afrika, Asien oder Naher Osten) und arbeiten eng mit dem jeweiligen Länderteam in der Zentrale und an den weltweiten Projektstandorten zusammen.

 

Ihre Aufgaben:

  • Verantwortung für die finanzadministrativen Komponenten der Projektbeantragung (Projektbudgeterstellung)
  • Verantwortung bei der Projektdurchführung für die ordnungsgemäße und zeitgerechte Verwaltung der Projektmittel unter Berücksichtigung der jeweiligen Planvorgaben (Budgetpflege und –kontrolle, Mittelabrufe, Liquiditätsplanung)
  • Sicherstellung der korrekten Abwicklung der Projekte nach Vorgaben und Richtlinien der unterschiedlichen Geber und in enger Abstimmung mit den Projektverantwortlichen vor Ort
  • Überwachung sowie Sicherstellung der sach- und fristgerechten internen und externen Finanzberichterstattung
  • Unterstützung bei der Abwicklung von Ausschreibungen und bei Beschaffungen in den Projektstandorten sowie Kontrolle von Beschaffungsabläufen
  • Anleitung der nationalen und internationalen Finanzfachkräfte sowie der Partnerorganisationen im Bereich der Projektadministration, sowohl in der Zentrale als auch direkt in den Programmstandorten

 

Unsere Anforderungen:

  • Kaufmännische Ausbildung und/oder abgeschlossenes Hochschul- oder Fachhochschulstudium
  • Erste Erfahrungen in der Administration und finanziellen Abwicklung von Projekten, möglichst im internationalen Bereich
  • Vertrautheit mit den administrativen Anforderungen von Geberorganisationen (Auswärtiges Amt, BMZ, ECHO, EuropeAid u.a.) wünschenswert

Currently, GFA is preparing for an upcoming project by KfW in Uganda Drought Resilience and Infrastructure, Karamoja Sub-Region.

Project Description:

Drought resilience in the Karamoja region is a cooperation project jointly implemented by teh Office of the Ugandan Prime Minister (OPM) and the German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) to strengthen and  improve the production base and drought resilience of settled and nomadic livestock farmers. This is to be achieved by investing in water storage infrastructure and its proper operation and maintenance, improving livestock services and sustainable water catchment area management.

The following measures, among others, are foreseen: Construction of two to three earth dams as strategic water reserves for the dry season; investments in animal health and related services, livestock markets, improved pasture management and technical training; investments in operation and maintenance such as roads to dams and farm and residential buildings close to water reservoirs, awareness raising and training, equipment including vehicles.

The target group is the indigenous agro-pastoral and pastoral population that lives and works in the Karamoja sub-region, including migrating nomads from Kenya and Southern Sudan. The target group consists to a large extent of young people and women.

Job Description:

  • General management and oversight of program results and measures in accordance with the approved log frame and operational plan
  • Project management, including management of teams of national and international long- term and short-term experts Support the Program Execution Agency (PEA and the program Implementation Agencies (PIA in programme implementation including financial management, procurement, operational planning, preparation of TORs for surveys and short term missions, supervision of services, fund management
  • Coordinate with and prepare project reports for the client (OPM) and KfW
  • Participatory planning of project measures (for example constructions aiming at soil stabilization, water retention, water collection, irrigation and drainage, feeder roads, storage constructions)
  • Elaboration of tender documents, supervision of tender process for constructions
  • Supervision and quality control during construction and hand-over
  • Elaboration and institutionalization of use- and O&M concepts
  • Investment funds management and reporting according to KfW standards

Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in civil engineering or agricultural engineering, rural development, agricultural economics , water resource management of similar;
  • Minimum of 8 years of professional experience in the fields of adaptation and mitigation to climate change, crop production and livestock, small scale infrastructure construction S&W conservation, rural infrastructure, droughts resilience
  • Professional experience in development cooperation adn donor funded projects
  • Experience in project management / Team Leader, preferably in similar comprehensive long-term projects
  • Experience in funds management, previous experience in KfW funded project is an advantage

The International Sustainable Chemistry Collaborative Centre (ISC3) is a new international institution set up by GIZ, which develops and promotes Sustainable Chemistry solutions worldwide. Starting from R&D projects, the ISC3 Global Start-up Service catalyses tech transfer from science to industry and to the developing countries along the entire innovation chain and offers a wide range of services including online library, pitch events, networking forums, coaching and trainings. Furthermore, the ISC3 provides access both to venture capital and international markets through its worldwide network of partners.

Your tasks

  • Jointly work with the ISC3 Innovation Hub Team to implement and further develop the new ISC3 Global Start-Up Service Programme (GSSP), develop and follow-up on ideas to further extend the services
  • Support tech and start-up scouting activities and initiation of partnerships with start-ups, co-organize workshops with start-ups and further partners
  • Constantly screen possible strategic partners and reach out to qualified service providers in the fields of international entrepreneurship promotion and VC, support preparation of contracts and partnerships and project manage selected new collaboration initiatives
  • Support conceptual development of the new planned Venture Capital (VC) Funds for Sustainable Chemistry: map possibilities and draft concept papers for institutional VC investors and angels
  • Support in structuring a portfolio with deal flow for SC investments, support in creating standardized processes from sourcing to closing, including assessment of new business models or solutions and preparation of due diligence for new investments
  • Organize workshops, meetings and pitch-materials for investors
  • Support set up of the VC Funds and articulate cooperation processes with partners on the Funds

 

Your profile

  • Master/ MBA in the field of Entrepreneurship, Innovation and/or Technology Management, Patent Engineering or comparable degree program
  • Sound theoretical knowledge, business development skills and practical experience in the areas of company formation, start-ups, acceleration/incubation and venture capital
  • Preferably longstanding professional experience in the field of private sector development, technology and innovation management; experience in support activities of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME)
  • At least several years’ relevant project management experience, ideally in developing or transformation countries
  • Initial knowledge and interest in the topics Sustainable and Green Chemistry, clean technologies and circular/green economy
  • Intercultural mindset and interest in interdisciplinary work
  • Very good MS Office knowledge and comfortable with digital tools and online platforms (planning, office…)

Who we are
forumZFD supports people involved in violent conflicts on the path to peace and strives to help overcome war and violence. forumZFD is currently working with peace consultants in Germany as well as ten other countries in Europe, the Middle East and South East Asia. Its Academy for Conflict Transformation offers a learning space for professional, international peace work. Through dialogue events, educational work and campaigns, forumZFD actively advocates civil peace policy. forumZFD is recognised by the German federal government as a member of the Civil Peace Service (CPS) consortium. It finances its work through public and private grants, donations and membership fees.

Our offer
We offer an attractive position with responsibilities for a minimum of two to three years (with the option of extension) in a growing organization. Your tasks and responsibilities
As Project Manager you will be responsible for the content, financial, administrative, and personnel management of the project activities implemented by the Davao office. In cooperation with colleagues of the further programme offices in Cotabato and Butuan, the programme team, and with local partners, you and your team will efficiently contribute to the civil conflict transformation and peacebuilding in Mindanao. Your work will concentrate on three levels of engagement with key actors and constituencies in the Philippines: engagement with Mindanao-wide and national issues, particularly policies concerning the broader peace and conflict situation in Mindanao; working with the higher education sector on integrating various peace education and education for peace approaches in curricula; and grassroots communities in the Davao administrative region on strengthening capacities for conflict transformation on a local level and on strengthening marginalized groups in the context of resource conflicts.


Core Tasks

  • Provide leadership to a project team comprised of local and international staff;
  • work together with Higher Education Institutions in Mindanao, and subsequent partner-teachers, for an integrated approach to advance peace education in curricula, i.e. integrating Conflict-Sensitive Journalism, introducing peace issues in political science and promoting Mindanao history;
  • develop and organise activities (e.g. workshops, trainings, dialogue programmes, and public fora) and projects with diverse local partners.
  • Expand and maintain contacts and professional networks consisting of civil society organisations and governmental institutions;
  • implement internal planning, monitoring, evaluation and reporting systems (PM&E) and knowledge management in collaboration with the PM&E coordinator and the country director;
  • contribute to fundraising and public relations activities of forumZFD;
  • represent the organisation to key actors (Philippine government institutions, civil society and other non-state actors, and other international organisations);
  • participate in the organisational development processes of forumZFD in the Philippines and across programmes (e.g. participating in thematic working groups, etc.).


Your profile:

  • Completed university degree, e.g. Social Sciences, Political Science, Peace and Conflict Studies, Peace Education, Social Work;
  • qualification as specialist in methods of nonviolent/civil conflict transformation (or similar knowledge);
  • know-how in human resource management and staff supervision, financial controlling and reporting system;
  • extensive experience in peace education/education for peace, including knowledge on the development of teaching materials, training of teachers, and integrating peace subjects in relevant curricula. Additional experience in one or more of the following thematic fields is an asset: training, networking, civil-society-oriented accompaniment of peace processes,
  • resource conflicts, gender, mediation, working with media, designing dialogue procedures, transitional justice;
  • affinity with the accompaniment of complex (dialogue) processes including creative and sensitive trial and implementation of new approaches;
  • experience in impact-oriented project planning, monitoring and evaluation
  • strong interpersonal skills, flexibility, ability to work in teams and intercultural sensitivity for working and living in complex communities;
  • ability to cope with ambiguity and the psychological strains of living in a conflict-affected area;
  • several years of international experience in development cooperation and peace building abroad (desirably in the Philippines or in another country in Southeast Asia);
  • willingness to travel frequently and adjust to flexible working hours (weekends, workload peaks);
  • fluency in English (project language) both spoken and written, willingness to learn a new language;
  • sound knowledge of common computer applications and social media, knowledge of Open Office applications desirable.


Willingness to travel partly through areas in which safety rules have to be observed due to security risks, is expected.


Start of assignment
Ideally, you are available to start working on 1st of August 2019 (preparation courses, followed by at least two to three years’ work within the project with the option of extension).
