Project Manager (m/f/d) Coalition Building and Community Organizing in Jerusalem
We are looking for a Project Manager to join our dedicated team in Jerusalem starting 1st of June 2021.
Who we are
forumZFD supports people involved in violent conflicts on the path to peace and strives to help overcome war and violence. forumZFD is currently working with peace consultants in Germany as well as eleven other countries in Europe, the Middle East and South East Asia. Its Academy for Conflict Transformation offers a learning space for professional, international peace work. Through dialogue events, educational work and campaigns, forumZFD actively advocates civil peace policies. forumZFD is recognized by the German federal government as a member of the Civil Peace Service (CPS) consortium. It finances its work through public and private grants, donations and membership fees.
Our offer
We offer an attractive position with responsibilities for a minimum of two to three years in a growing organization. We also offer participation in qualification and professional development courses (among others, at forumZFD’s Academy for Conflict Transformation), a project-based preparation, regular coaching and, where appropriate, participation in a language course. As the position is based on the German Development Aid Workers Act (EhfG), it is restricted to citizens of the EU. The position is remunerated according to the provisions of this law, including comprehensive social security benefits and financial reintegration assistance upon return.
Working for forumZFD, you will be engaged within the innovative field of conflict transformation and peacebuilding through contributing your ideas and skills.
Your tasks and responsibilities
- The primary purpose of the Project Manager’s role is to manage projects which link to addressing societal fragmentation in the forumZFD regional program ensuring that design, implementation and reporting of activities are carried out effectively and in-line with best practice and donor requirements. They will also ensure that projects are coordinated internally and with other stakeholders.
- As Project Manager you are supporting local partner organizations in their efforts to overcome social fragmentation and to build or support networks within their own society.
- As a non-partisan specialist, you will use your expertise in grassroots work engaging partner organisations in participatory processes to enhance their effectiveness and sustainability (e.g. by strategic non-violent action).
- The main areas of responsibility are project and budget management, technical support, program planning, capacity building, training curriculum development, and reporting. The independent organization of workshops and trainings as well as accompanying and facilitating learning processes, also belong to your area of responsibility. The post holder will also contribute to the development and implementation of the forumZFD’s program strategy. The Project Manager is under the direct supervision of the Regional Director and will work closely with program and finance staff.
Your profile:
- Advanced degree in social sciences, peacebuilding, management, international development or other relevant fields;
- Minimum of 5 years work experience in project implementation, preferably in a conflict or post-conflict context;
- Demonstrated experience of working in an international organization and good understanding of peacebuilding programming;
- Proven track record of working with grassroots organizations or CSOs, and in community organizing;
- Strong experience in facilitating workshops, training, and capacity building;
- High level of knowledge and skills in strategic planning and project design incl. M&E and budgeting, strong ability to think strategically and conceptually;
- Strong professional and social competence and ability to work independently as well as in cooperation with team members, a high level of personal efficiency and an ability to balance multiple tasks;
- A good sense of humor;
- Physical and psychological stability and intercultural sensitivity to work and live in a complex society;
- Fluent English (project language) spoken and written is expected, Arabic and/or Hebrew are desirable;
- Driving license and experience;
- EU citizenship is required for this position.
Start of assignment
Ideally, you are available to start working on 1st of June 2021 (preparation courses, followed by at least two to three years’ work within the project with the option of extension).
