Caritas Switzerland is one of the leading Swiss NGOs in the field of poverty reduction in Switzerland and abroad. International Cooperation programmes focus on humanitarian aid, income generation, climate change and migration. The country programme in Bolivia 2021 – 2025 will strengthen and amplify the engagement in the thematic fields of climate change and income. It contributes to the Caritas Switzerland Venezuela Crisis Programme by implementing projects in the thematic area of Migration. The country director Bolivia is based in La Paz and responsible for the management and implementation of the country programme in Bolivia. Caritas Switzerland has a country office in La Paz with currently two local staff members.
Your duties
- Development, management and supervision of the country programme and project-portfolio in order to successfully implement the Caritas Switzerland Country Strategy 2021 - 2025, in close cooperation with the Programme Director
- Representation of Caritas Switzerland in Bolivia
- Close collaboration with the Caritas Switzerland Venezuela Crisis Programme
- Acquisition and fundraising on national and international level according to the strategy of the country programme. Elaboration of proposals, reporting and communication with donors
- Coordination and networking with national and international organizations, government agencies and donors with presence in the country of operation
- Methodological and content-related advisory for partner organizations
- Management responsibility of the country office, including human resource management and budget responsibility, preparation and implementation of the local organisational guidelines and security policies for the country organisation
- Responsibility for timely monitoring, reporting (narrative and financially), and conduction of audits and evaluations of projects according to the CaCH guidelines
- Public relations, promotion of visibility of the programme
Our requirements
- Masters Degree (Master or Diploma) in International Affairs, Social Studies, Economy, Environmental Science or in any other relevant field, post graduate in development studies is an advantage
- At least 5 years of work experience in the area of international cooperation, including foreign assignments of at least 2 years, and positions with management responsibility
- Work experience in Latin America is a strong asset
- Relevant expertise in the fields of activity “Promotion of Access to Income” and/or “Climate Change” is of advantage
- Experience in planning, monitoring and implementation of projects and programmes (PCM-experience) and in cooperation with local partner organizations
- Sensitivity to the cultural context and ability to communicate appropriately with different stakeholders
- Finance management skills (proposal elaboration, reporting, budget monitoring of the country office and partners) and business expertise
- Networking and lobbying experience with international organizations and governmental and non-governmental institutions, stimulating exchange and creating synergies
- Experience in the collaboration with bi- and multilateral donors, preferably in Latin America, and spirit for acquisition and development of innovative project ideas and proposals
- Strategic and entrepreneurial thinking and acting, excellent social skills
- Very good knowledge of Spanish, English; good knowledge of German is desired
- Ability to work independently and well organized. Resilience, high flexibility and willingness to travel frequently within the country
