Project Manager (m/f)
Yangon, Myanmar (or Germany based with regular travels to Myanmar)
We are looking for an experienced project manager (m/f) who shall be in charge of the AVE Associations Partnership Programme at the Myanmar Garment Manufacturers Association (MGMA) in Myanmar. The project and contract duration is limited to November 2021, with the possibility of an extension.
The Project
In our partnership project we - the Foreign Trade Association of German Retailers (AVE) - support the Myanmar Garment Manufacturers Association (MGMA) with the development of key structures and services that enable and foster the sustainable growth of the garment sector in Myanmar. Strengthening MGMA capacities and organizational development are at the centre of the project.
The project is funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) in Germany and steered and supported by AVE.
AVE and MGMA have been working together successfully for the past 3 years and we are looking for a dynamic, pro-active and self-driven project manager to drive organizational change and support MGMA in the final two years of our project.
Your Tasks / Responsibilities
- Organisational Development and support of our partner association
- Develop key strategies with and for MGMA
- Facilitate the implementation of the developed strategies
- Support and facilitate MGMA’s activities as an association (e.g. work of working groups, organisation of MGMA members’ day, etc.)
- Develop MGMA service offering to ensure the sustainability of the association
- Prepare, coordinate, accompany and follow-up on international (short-term) expert missions
- Develop of a network of consultants and trainers for MGMA service offering
- Coordination of all activities with those of other supporters and key stakeholders
- Independent management of the project in terms of local budget, staff, consultants and project partners
- Identify, organise and facilitate own training interventions (needs based)
- Monitor the achievement of the project indicators
- Administration of the project under the directives of the German Government (with support and in cooperation with a project assistant in Germany)
Our Requirements / Your Profile
- University degree
- A certificate or training in organisational development is beneficial
- At least 5 years professional experience as project manager – preferably in organisational development or association partnership projects
- Profound knowledge of associations and their work
- Very good intercultural skills and cultural sensitivity working
- Excellent communication skills
- Very good organisational and management skills
- Dedicated to keep deadlines and deliverables in view and meet them
- Fluent command of English and German language
- Knowledge of the garment sector and its challenges is advantageous
- Previous work experience in Myanmar is beneficial, as well as the knowledge of Burmese language.
