The e-Librarian manages ongoing content, administrates and maintains Dialogue of Civilizations Research Institute’s (DOC RI) e-Library, arranges e-library and DOC RI’s membership promotion, takes care of DOC members.

Our name is our mission: Dialogue of Civilizations Research Institute is bringing together global thought leaders from academia, public policy, business and civil society to debate and develop practice-based policy advice. That is our key – without dialogue, no solutions. Therefore, Dialogue of Civilizations Research Institute builds on a global network of experts, continuously creating special reports, expert commentary, and analysis from our international network of respected academics and responsible industry figures.

Main tasks

  • Ensures the development and promotion of DOC RI’s e-library services;
  • Manages e-library content: places e-library items on the website, deals with technical issues;
  • Assists with outreach efforts that promote DOC RI materials and DOC RI e-library services;
  • Provides reference and research support for e-library users, manages DOC RI members general technical support and clients’ services, keeps users database;
  • Product management: assists in developing a pricing policy for e-library items, proposes and implements special offers and other means of attracting users;
  • Manages publications reviews – in cooperation with Research Department requests DOC RI experts and members for reviews of DOC RI publications;
  • Interacts with specialized media, informs of e-library updates;
  • Brings in the e-library services for partnership organizations and institutions, finds new partners, implements the services on the partnership organizations websites, incl. cross-marketing issues like partnership e-library programs, placing of the exclusive content of partnership organizations on related topics in the DOC RI e-library and etc.;
  • Arranges online and offline advertising activities for the e-library promotion;
  • In cooperation with Digital Marketing manager arranges social media promotion of the e-library services;
  • Manages the e-library services budget, including overseeing the profiling and reporting of the budget to Finance Department on a monthly basis.

 

 
Requirements
  • University degree in a related field (library science, equivalent graduate degree)
  • A minimum 3 years relevant marketing management experience
  • Experience in management of a library/ information service as an advantage
  • Experience in project management
  • Evidence of experience in working in a service-based role (with experience of customer care)
  • Demonstrable experience and skills in building positive and productive relationships, with colleagues and other stakeholders
  • Ability to act as manager of a project
  • A practical working knowledge of copyright law and licensing issues
  • Ability to develop library information services and promotions
  • Effective communication skills (both spoken and written)
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with colleagues
  • Good IT skills, working knowledge of appropriate applications for running e-library and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Proficiency in English and German language (native English is a plus)
  • Knowledge of third language is an advantage
  • Resilient and able to work under pressure
  • Strong corporate ethos and effective team member, able to achieve an appropriate balance between scientific interests and organization-wide interests
