The “Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund Deutschland (ASB)” is a German aid and welfare organisation with more than 300 branches at national, regional, district and municipal level all over Germany.
More than 1.2 million members provide a broad social basis for our organisation and more than 20,000 employees as well as over 17,000 volunteers form part of the ASB ensuring a high level of quality in areas such as rescue services, civil protection and social services. Since its foundation in 1888, the ASB has acted as a politically and denominationally independent association ensuring a high level of continuity and reliability. ASB Foreign Aid Department provides both direct emergency relief to people hit by man-made or natural disasters and longer-term rehabilitation measures designed to promote recovery and to rapidly help restore the livelihood of refugees, internally displaced persons and other vulnerable people. ASB currently has a portfolio of more than 100 relief, rehabilitation, development and DRR projects in countries like Bosnia, Georgia, Greece, Haiti, Indonesia, Iraq, Kosovo, Nepal, Nicaragua, Niger, Philippines, Serbia, Ukraine, etc.
ASB established its operational presence in Nepal after the 2015 Nepal earthquake and coordinates its partner implemented “Post-Earthquake Response, Recovery, Reconstruction and Inclusive Community Resilience” program through its country office in Kathmandu. Resilience building, empowerment and inclusion of most at-risk groups including persons with disabilities in DRR are ASB’s key strategic priorities and activities in Nepal.
ASB is currently seeking expressions of interest from qualified and committed individuals for the following position:
Program Support Officer (m/f) Nepal
The Program Support Officer, under the direct supervision of the Country Director and working closely with other team members of ASB Nepal will provide support for effective country office operational planning and programming, mapping of potential partnerships and donors, documenting good practices and lessons learned, organizational profiling and other backstopping support as per the office requirements.
Duration: 5 months (possibility of 5-month extension)

Salary: ASB offers a remuneration of EUR 1,800.00 per month, plus insurance cover and round-trip airfare to the duty station and back.
Key responsibilities include:
- Support in program development, planning, implementation and monitoring and evaluation of ASB’s partner implemented projects;
- Support in proposal development and report writing;
- Local context analysis and mapping of potential partners working on disaster risk reduction and disability;
- Mapping of potential donors both within Nepal and internationally including exploring possible opportunities for funding from the private sector;
- Meetings, networking and representation in relevant working groups and platforms related to DRR, disability and post-earthquake recovery and reconstruction;
- Documenting success stories, good practices and lessons learned of ASB Nepal and its partner implemented programming with the focus on inclusion of most at-risk groups;
- Serve as ASB Nepal’s communication focal point, regularly maintain and further develop its organizational profile and visibility using photo and written documentation, social media, and other means of communication.
- Other programming and operational backstopping support as per requirements.
Key Requirements:
Mandatory requirements:
- Master’s degree in international development, humanitarian assistance, program management, community development, disaster risk reduction, livelihoods or related field;
- Relevant work experience with a demonstrated track record of success including in program development, planning, implementation and monitoring and evaluation, proposal development and report writing;
- Excellent verbal communication and writing skills in English;
- Proficient in Microsoft Office including PowerPoint, Word and Excel.
Desirable:
- Financial management skills, including development of project budgets;
- Experience in establishing and maintaining effective relationships with donors;
- Experience in communication and visibility, documenting lessons learned and good practices, and organizational profiling;
- Knowledge/ experience in private sector;
- Photography skills;
- Excellent verbal communication and writing skills in German;
- Experience of working in Asia and understanding local context.
