Consultant/ Project Coordinator (m/f/d) in our Public Finance Management (PFM) Department with French proficiency

The PFM Department has currently 25 members and is divided in two portfolios. The Department offers consultancy services related to transparent financial and fund management. These services include

  • fund and grant management services
  • financial capacity building
  • procurement management

Your tasks

  • Management of international projects and studies (backstopping) on site and Hamburg-based (financial and technical administration, monitoring of projects and studies), mainly in French-speaking African countries
  • Networking with donor agencies, beneficiaries, partner companies or institutions, subcontractors and experts
  • Acquisition of new projects, including elaboration and coordination of technical and financial proposals in the field of public finance management.
  • Conducting fact-finding and technical short-term consultancy missions
  • Elaboration of reports, financial tools, concepts and presentations and contribution to knowledge and quality management
  • Expert and contract management,
  • Representing GFA in conferences and seminars
  • Supporting on-the-job-training of our Junior Professionals

Your profile

  • University degree (MA) in business administration, economics, development studies. A focus on finance, accounting or controlling would be an asset
  • At least 3 years of relevant work experience in the context of development cooperation, preferably on project located in low- and middle-income countries (including remotely)
  • Working experience in a low- or middle-income country with responsibility related to finance, accounting, procurement or audit
  • Familiarity with Bilateral/Multilateral donors and international financial institutions policies and procedures
  • Familiarity with The Global Fund, Millennium Challenge Corporation or Gavi strategies and policies will be a strong asset
  • Experience in Sub-Saharan Africa is a strong asset
  • Full proficiency in written and spoken English and French is a prerequisite. Basic knowledge of German is considered as an asset.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office package including Excel
  • Willingness to travel extensively to the countries within Africa
  • Strong writing, communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to manage complex situations under tight schedules
