Job Opening: Project Officer Berlin (Iraq)

From 1 or 15 August 2023, elbarlament is looking for

a project officer (salary based on TvöD BUND) working full time (100%)

based in Berlin Initially until February 2025

Job Description:

Elbarlament is a peacebuilding and democracy support organisation, with a special focus on empowering women and youth, promoting culture and protecting the environment. We follow a unique approach that integrates conflict sensitivity, cultural awareness and intersectionality. Elbarlament cooperates with parliaments, governments, civil society actors and international institutions, implementing projects and delivering consulting services. The project officer will coordinate technical and administrative tasks in our new project in Iraq.

The tasks of the project officer include:

  • -  Independent coordination of project tasks in close coordination with the project manager

  • -  Preparation and implementation of the planned activities, as well as drafting of narrative and financial reports

  • -  Experience with the financial and administrative processing of international projects in accordance with grant law

  • -  Research and analysis

  • -  Social media maintenance

  • -  Preparation of publications/articles

  • -  Moderation of workshops and events

  • -  Building and maintaining relations with relevant stakeholders in the field of democracy support, peacebuilding and cultural work in Iraq and Germany

  • -  Continuous monitoring and evaluation (M&E) of the project results

Requirement

  • -  University degree (Master, ‘Diplom’ or ‘Magister’, or comparable degree)

  • -  Proven expertise in coordinating democracy support projects, in particular civic education projects

  • -  Gender and conflict sensitivity

  • -  Excellent communication skills in English, very good knowledge of Arabic (and German) is an asset

  • -  Very good knowledge of German funding legislation (“Zuwendungsrecht”)

  • -  Good knowledge of the Iraqi political and social context

  • -  Availability to travel to Iraq
