Project Manager in Berlin (MENA)
From 15 February / March 2023, elbarlament is looking for
a project manager (salary based on TvöD BUND) working full time (100%)
based in Berlin
Initially until February 2025
Job Description:
Elbarlament is a peacebuilding and democracy support organisation, with a special focus on empowering women and youth, promoting culture and protecting the environment. We follow a unique approach that integrates conflict sensitivity, cultural awareness and intersectionality. Elbarlament cooperates with parliaments, governments, civil society actors and international institutions, implementing projects and delivering consulting services. The project manager will oversee the technical and financial management of our new project in Iraq or Lebanon.
The tasks of the project manager include:
- Management of the project in close coordination with a member of the board of elbarlament or the programmes director
- Conception and technical preparation of the planned activities, as well as ongoing project coordination including the preparation of technical and financial reports
- Research and analysis
- Social media maintenance, preparation of publications/articles
- Moderation of workshops and events
- Building and maintaining relations with relevant stakeholders in the field of democracy support, peacebuilding and cultural work in the MENA region and Germany.
- Continuous monitoring and evaluation (M&E) of the project results

Requirements:
- University degree (Master, ‘Diplom’ or ‘Magister’, or comparable degree)
- Proven expertise in managing democracy support projects, in particular civic education projects
- Experience with personnel management
- Gender and conflict sensitivity
- Excellent communication skills in English, very good knowledge of Arabic (and German) is an asset
- Good knowledge of the Iraqi or Lebanese political and social context
- Availability to travel to Iraq, Lebanon und other countries in the MENA region
