OVERVIEW

Fairtrade International is the international non-profit, multi stakeholder body that is responsible for the strategic direction of Fairtrade, sets Fairtrade standards and supports producers.


PRINCIPAL ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Banana Coordinator will support and coordinate a diverse range of projects and work streams, and related plans, in the scope of the Fairtrade Banana strategy and global operations to facilitate growth of markets and to maximize the impact of Fairtrade on banana producers worldwide. The Coordinator will liaise with Fairtrade market-facing and producer-facing organizations, Fairtrade International and FLOCERT staff.
 
Initial focus will be on supporting projects on decent work, sustainable farming, fair and transparent supply chains, and development of communication materials. In this context, the Coordinator will work in close cooperation with Fairtrade’s Senior Advisor Bananas, and with its teammates of the Global Products, Programs and Policy unit to:

  • Keep a structured overview of related projects and workstreams implemented by Fairtrade members and partner organizations
  • Contribute to and ensure regular information to Fairtrade members and external stakeholders about strategies, projects, and programmes, including updates on progress and results
  • Contribute to system-wide alignment on a common narrative around strategies and approaches, including the development and distribution of harmonized offer to business information and messaging to Fairtrade members
  • Collaborate and coordinate with relevant Fairtrade International units (principally Global Impact, Standards & Pricing and External Relations) on banana specific projects and workstreams
  • Collaborate and coordinate projects and workstreams with Fairtrade’s Producer Networks, civil society organisations, research institutions, donors, and other partners
  • Coordinate project administration, implementation and reporting, including financial and narrative reports to project partners
  • Contribute to the development and distribution of B2B communication materials for product category and bespoke supply chain communication for main accounts
  • Co-lead with line manager procurement and contracting of external service providers.
  • Manage the effective functioning of meetings, events and dialogue sessions with stakeholders, including the preparation of presentations
  • Coordinate the participation at trade fairs and other industry relevant fora
  • Compile and analyze relevant datasets on industry, markets, risks, and compliance
  • Coordinate budgeting, and internal planning and reporting processes


SKILLS REQUIRED

Level of education

  • Undergraduate Degree in Agribusiness/Business management/Development/Sustainability
  • Masters/Post Graduate qualification highly desirable

 
Knowledge / Job Specific Competencies:

  • At least 2 years of professional experience in the agribusiness sector
  • Specific product knowledge and experience of banana and/or fresh produce industry
  • Experience in working in cross-functional teams and groups
  • Competent in MS Office and project management tools


Professional Skills

  • Result and solution oriented
  • Excellent communication and relationship management skills
  • Track record in project coordination
  • Proficiency in English and advance knowledge in Spanish , French is desirable.

  • Be highly organized and able to prioritize and multi-task effectively

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

  • This is a full time position
  • Location is Bonn, Germany
  • The office language is English
  • Salary Group V as per the Collective Bargaining Agreement for the Wholesale and Foreign Trade Industries for North Rhine Westphalia and Fairtrade International Company
  • Agreement on wages and salaries.
  • Starting date: as soon as possible
