BiRD – Bureau for Institutional Reform and Democracy offers:
(Junior) Project Manager/Fulltime
Start: as soon as possible
Duration: permanent
Payment: upon agreement
Type of position: fulltime
Application deadline: 15 December 2021
Work location: BiRD headquarters Munich and/or home based, TBD (presence in Munich during orientation phase required)
About us:
As (Junior) Project Manager, you will be working with a small and value-oriented consulting company. Your colleagues are based in different cities and countries and keep in touch via video- or online-platform on a daily basis. Those not working from our HQ in Munich meet in the context of specific projects occasionally (if the pandemic situation allows for it). A high degree of independence and self-sufficiency as well as excellent communication skills are therefore essential, and you should be able to act responsibly and reliably in such an environment.
The two pillars of BiRD’s work are the implementation of technical assistance projects and the realisation of evaluations and studies for various public donors, including EU, GIZ, GFFO, etc., and NGOs. Thematically, our main engagement lies with the promotion of good governance and democracy while we are always eager to explore new sectors.
If you are an open-minded and humorous person and want to contribute to our company’s further development while also growing personally in an environment of dedicated and competent colleagues, we might have just the right job for you.
You match our ideal profile if:
- You have a university degree (B.A./BSc.; M.A. would be an asset).
- You have at least two years of general work experience (including internships with relevant organisations), ideally in the field of development cooperation or consulting or project management.
- You write and communicate with ease in English and German and haven proven this in a professional or academic context; additional excellent language skills in French or Spanish are a clear asset.
- You can write and edit complex text/content and numbers don’t scare you.
- You are familiar with Microsoft Office; in particular, you have experience with editing and formatting text documents to academic or business standards with MS Word and you are familiar with MS Excel’s basic spreadsheet functions.
- A certain degree of autonomous working doesn’t freak you out and you are not afraid to ask your friendly colleagues for advice if needed.
- Your general work attitude is constructive and solution-oriented and you have a keen eye for details.
- You are motivated, highly energetic and positive and you can work with colleagues whom you mostly meet via video platform.
Responsibilities:
- Elaboration and preparation of project bids in our fields of work, including promotion of good governance, civil society and rule of law, for various donors (EU, GIZ, GFFO, NGOs, etc.)
- Management and administration of the implementation of short- and long-term technical assistance projects or evaluations/studies including quality control and proof reading of project deliverables
- Acquisition: Monitoring of new tenders and assessment of project opportunities
- Budget calculation and financial management of projects
- Recruitment of experts, including fee negotiations, contracting, etc.
- Carry out studies and evaluations in various roles
- Correspondence and networking with consultants and partner companies
